Communications/Marketing Intern/Co-Op

AHMA seeks a communications/marketing intern to support the development of the organization’s online and earned media presence with the goal of elevating AHMA’s unique and progressive platform, increasing our overall base of support through added members and social media engagement while also supporting affiliate organizations/coalition members in implementing similar goals. 

LOCATION: Fully Remote (MA based)

TYPE: Part time, paid and/or college credit, 16-20 hours per week. Hours are flexible/adaptable to meet the candidate’s needs. This is a 4 month paid/part time co-op with the opportunity to extend for an additional 4 month period at the mutual agreement of co-op and employer.

TIMING: This Internship is set to begin in August-September 2022, depending on candidate’s availability. 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: 

This role requires an energetic, dedicated and detail-oriented person with experience managing social media and other digital platforms, media relations, and/or graphic design. This individual is a team-player with an entrepreneurial spirit, willingness to learn and ability to manage multiple tasks while adapting to shifting priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Applicants will provide support in the following areas. As no single applicant is likely to have all of the following skills, applicants with experience in at least 2-3 of these areas, and a willingness to expand their skill set should feel comfortable applying. As a small tight knit team, AHMA is committed to providing our interns with guidance, training, and mentoring on the housing policy and advocacy landscape.

This position pays at a rate of $15 an hour. While AHMA will assist in completing any forms or documentation necessary for credit from their educational institution, the intern will be responsible for determining their institution’s requirements and obtaining/submitting all required documentation.

Policy Research and Advocacy Intern/Co-Op

AHMA seeks a policy research and advocacy intern to support the ongoing development of the organization’s policy and advocacy priorities. This role will focus on conducting policy research related to housing production and zoning reform to inform the development of AHMA’s future legislative priorities. The intern will work with AHMA staff, other interns, or consultants to translate research findings into model legislative bills as well as to develop educational tools meant to facilitate AHMA members’ local organizing work.

LOCATION: Fully Remote (MA based)

TYPE: Part time, paid and/or college credit, 16-20 hours per week, hours are flexible/adaptable to meet the candidate’s needs. This is a 4 month paid/part time co-op/internship with the opportunity to extend for an additional 4 month period at the mutual agreement of intern/co-op and employer.

TIMING: This Internship is set to begin ASAP depending on the selected candidate’s availability, no later than the beginning of Fall Semester 2022.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
A graduate student in Public policy, urban planning/studies or a related field is preferred. A well-qualified undergraduate may be considered. Experience in housing policy, advocacy, or legislative experience at any level of government is preferred. Excellent research and writing skills. Motivation to advance AHMA’s mission of housing abundance. Ability to work independently.
